The Back House

Italo Calvino said: The more enlightened our houses are, the more their walls ooze ghosts. Describe the ghosts that live in this house:

They slithered.

They smothered.

Unobtrusively working,

In their mysterious ways.

Everything froze.

Widows clattered,

Teeth chattered

Impossible, it became to move.

The doors shut tight

Not letting in a beam

Of light,

Locked in a house of horror.
